BC Hydro is inviting new renewable electricity generation projects to meet the province’s growing energy needs. Each proposed project must include at least 25% equity ownership by one or more First Nations and be capable of completion before 2031. We are excited to collaborate with interested First Nations communities to develop solar PV systems. Together, we will enter into an Electricity Purchase Agreement with BC Hydro to deliver clean, renewable energy to the grid.

BC Hydro is inviting businesses to support the grid during peak demand periods by participating in 4-hour demand response events. Registered businesses will receive a 12-hour notice before each high-demand event. By shifting at least 5% of typical electricity usage to before or after the event using renewable energy, participants can earn rewards valued at $50 per average kilowatt of demand reduction.
BC Hydro is offering support to businesses interested in purchasing and installing Energy Storage Systems (ESS). Through this program, BC Hydro can automatically dispatch your ESS to shift grid power to stored energy, helping to reduce grid load during peak periods.
Businesses can apply by nominating a battery capacity, with incentives calculated based on:
$10,000 × kW nominated
$10,000 × (kWh ÷ 4) nominated
80% of eligible project costs
Take advantage of this opportunity to enhance your energy independence and contribute to a more resilient grid.
Businesses can qualify for up to $25,000 in incentives for solar installations and an additional $25,000 for battery storage systems — offering a combined total of up to $50,000 in savings.
Social housing projects can receive up to $75,000 in incentives for solar installations and an additional $75,000 for battery storage systems — providing up to $150,000 in total funding support.
Multi-family buildings can qualify for up to $25,000 in incentives for solar installations and an additional $25,000 for battery storage systems — offering a combined total of up to $50,000 in funding.
Purchases of solar PV systems — including wiring, controllers, and inverters — may qualify for a PST tax exemption in British Columbia, helping to lower the overall cost of going solar.
CleanBC offers a range of incentives to help businesses integrate EV chargers into their properties. Eligible participants can receive up to $3,000 for EV Ready plans, up to $120,000 for EV Ready infrastructure, and up to $14,000 for EV charger installations. Pre-approval from your hydro company is required before purchasing or installing any equipment.
